Ashley Carlson was born and raised throughout rural south-central Idaho. She received her BFA from Boise State University in 2016, emphasis in painting and drawing. Her artwork depicts rural, often surreal, landscapes and explores ideas of isolation, technology and anonymity. For Carlson, the emergent presence of the internet and the home PC was a gateway to total information linkage: a way to connect the rural to the urban, the socio-cultural to the sparse and the unkown to the curious.

Carlson has exhibited at the Boise Art Museum. She currently lives and works in Boise, ID.
